Well its finally here.
Spirit thats what.
What's Spirit?
- Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
- Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
- If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
Requirements
- Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
- An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
- Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
- Syncing with iTunes before trying this highly recommended.

Update 1 : New video floating around the net today, showing Geohot's untethered jailbreak
These teasers are considered all speculation for now. We have to wait till Saturday when the iPad launches, to find out if it will be compatible to jailbreak firmware 3.2 on the iPad just like on the ipt3g and the iPhone 3GS
Update 2 : Well we've not even had the iPad with us for 24 hours and already we're seeing videos starting to float around talking about the Spirit jailbreak for the iPad. This video demonstrates root access on the iPad and MuscleNerd's work thus far. The tools are not released yet but i'm sure we're going to see it in no time.

Update 3 : Muscle Nerd confirmed on twitter that all teams are working together and we should have some software soon.
Update 4 : MuscleNerd showing VNC Server running on OS 4.0 obviously jailbroken, still no release of software.
Update 5 : GeoHot showing in his latest post that he can make the iPad ra1n but still has not released the software. WTF, stop waiting on more money and release it.

| Tek - ... as the proverbial "carrot" dangles in our faces just out of reach, technology steadily marches onward and our poor iPhone 3GS's become obsolete and live out the remainder of their lives as "glorified ipods" wishing to realize their full potential by being used as a ph0ne. Maybe those Dev-Team Bums need to take their iPhones off vibrate and pull them back out from "where the sun don't shine" and maybe they could actually concentrate once again on releasing the unlock everyone has so patiently been waiting for. Thats my 2 cents anyway, and please feel free to use my meager donation any way you see fit (although I suggest they be used to replace the void in left in Dev-Teams "vibrating iPhone Cases" that they keep "where the sun never shines") Anyone else have any suggestions for alternative uses for either donations or all the 'glorified ipods' that are devaluating and dying a dusty death?? | ||
| Daniel - If you all were smart enough to realize that the iPad was a waste of money anyways and bought the same memory capacity iTouch, then you could download Spirit or Blackra1n and not have to sit here waiting for the release. Anyways, we all know that they're not going to release it because they are to scared of the possibility that one day Steve Jobs and his Dev team are gonna whip around and sue them up the ass because they are prying into the loopholes in their firmware and exploiting cracks that were not meant to be in the system. That would cost them millions (and their reputations...). That's MY 2 CENTS WORTH. (*cough* ...@Tek ) | ||
