HOWTO : Jailbreak Apple's 3.0 Firmware
Required firmware : 3.0
Required software : redsn0w
Compatible devices : iTouch 1G, iTouch 2G, iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS
This guide is for jailbreaking your device running 3.0. It is being written with the 0.8 release of redsn0w. In the event that redsn0w is updated, you can still use this guide provided there are no major changes to the procedure. At this moment redsn0w version 0.8 only jailbreaks firmware 3.0 so dont update to 3.1 just yet.
What you need before beginning:
1. 3.0 firmware
*If you have previously updated or restored with 3.0, you can pull the file from one of the following locations:
- XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
- Vista or 7: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
Notes:
1. After jailbreaking, you must use ultrasn0w to unlock.
2. I always recommend you do a fresh restore before beginning although it's not a requirement.
Step 1
Launch redsn0w 0.8
Step 2
Click Browse to select the correct ipsw file for your device.
*Choose the right firmware that matches your device
*redsn0w will say Processing firmware... followed by IPSW successfully identified.
Step 3
Click Next> and you'll get a Preparing jailbreak data pop-up:
Step 4
Select Install Cydia and/or Install Icy and click Next>:
Step 5
Follow the instructions below to put the phone in Recovery mode
Step 6
Let redsn0w run through it's process:
*redsnow will let you know once it's finished:

HOWTO : Jailbreak Apple's 2. Firmware
Required firmware : 2.X
Required software : quickPWN
Compatible devices : iTouch 1G, iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G
Here is a guide to jailbreak your iPhone iTouch running any version of 2.X in 10 easy steps. This does not work on the new iTouch 2ng Gen nor does it work with the new iPhone 3GS.
Get the software and firmware, they are under our application and firmware section on our site. We're going to do this using firmware 2.2 as an example but it will work with any version of 2.X Download iPhone / iTouch 2.2 firmware & QuickPWN 2.2 and put the in the same folder.
1. Let start fresh. Start iTunes and update your phone to iPhone or iTouch with firmware 2.X, by hitting update or restore while holding shift or option key.
2. After updating let the phone reboot and activate using iTunes.
3. Shutdown iTunes and start by launching Start QuickPwn22-1.exe
4. If your phone is still connected you should get a blue arrow, click it.
5. Click browse and browse to the directory where you downloaded your 2.2 firmware, (iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw)
6. QuickPWN will hash the file (wait 30 seconds) and you should get a green checkmark, and the blue arrow, click the arrow again
7. Select if you want to Add Cydia, Installer and Replace boot Logos and click the blue arrow.
8. When you are ready to start click Blue Arrow
9. Follow the onscreen instructions on how to put your phone into DFU mode, simple way is hold both buttons till you hear a usb disconnect sound, then keep holding home(ROUND) button till you hear that sound again, at that point you will see the progress bar start, let go of the home button at this point.
10. Go get a drink wait 5 minutes and your phone should now be jailbroken.

Thanks a bunch! yes you will lose your cydia apps, if you have cracked apps leave them on, they will not work when you update to 2.2 but once you jailbreak 2.2 they will work again... | ||

Also if you want to jailbreak itouch 2.2.1 (first gen) you will need to find the proper firmware iPod1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw on the net or pay apple the 9.95$ and do it via itunes, then you can jailbreak and run all this cool shit | ||

The only thing you can't do is unlock to use with a new provider using the dev teams yellowsnow, because it only supports firmware 2.2 and below meaning if you updated your phone to firmware 2.2.1 or above your baseband is higher then 2.28 and it will not unlock at this time. | ||

 hellspawn729 - well, i get all the way (using a mac) to the hold down the power for 3 seconds, hold both for 10, then hold the home for 30 and before its done counting it starts the jailbreak and says waiting for reboot, however the reboot never comes, what did i do wrong? i kept holding the home button for the 30 seconds when it says waiting for reboot, and still nothing. | ||
