Seems like the Canadian 3g network cannot support the iPhone. How? Well lets just say me and and about 20 other iPhone users are all experiencing the same problem. When 3G is turned on 80% of the calls go directly to voicemail. There are users on the ROGERS AND FIDO NETWORK.

Fido & Rogers list of excuses.

1st call
Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them - "We're having a temp problem, will be fixed within 24 hours."

2nd call
Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them : "Your networks settings need to be reset,"
Me : "did that same problem."

3rd call
Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them : "You need to wipe all data from your iphone under settings"

4th call
Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them : "You need to do a full restore with iTunes."

5th call
Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them : "Your SIM card is assigned to the wrong phone"
Me : "shouldnt you tell me this on the first call ? and why does my phone still work then ?"

6th call
Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them : "Its a problem with the 2.1 firmware and 2.2 will fix it."

7th call
Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them : "Its a nationwide 3G problem"
Me : "why are blackberries running fine then ?"

8th call

Me : "My iphone keeps going to voice mail when i have 3G turned on why is that?"
Them : "Please turn of your 3G until 2.2 update comes out, since its a problem with the apple firmware."
Me : "I am on 2.2 right now"
Them : "Um um, we will refund you your data charges till the problem gets fixed"
Me : "If i wanted to surf on edge i would have kept my old iPhone and not signed a contract"w

WHAT A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT!
ONLY WAY NOT TO MISS CALLS IS TURN OF YOUR 3G SERVICE

Well at least now i have no data charges and also got rid of system access and 911 fees.

I experienced this a lot during the first 2 weeks of November. If I was using an app, especially Safari, many of my calls would never ring through. In the last week I have not logged a single instance of this happening. i have yet to call Rogers and confirm if this is a known problem.

it's not only a problem with iPhone and 3G... is a problem with 3G nationwide...
I don't use any iPhone... I have a Nokia E71-2 and N95-3...
Both phone have the same problem (calls going to voicemail) while on 3G network... works fine on GSM/edge only.

Wow, I have pretty much exactly the same story. Several calls to customer service and nothing fixed.... must be the sim, must need a reset, take it to a service centre.... nothing. If I'm on Edge, everything works. On 3g 2/3rds of my calls are missed coming in or fail going out... compensation so far, not a bloddy thing

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG PEOPLE!! This is a problem with BOTH the iPhone and the 3G Networks. Rogers is aware of the issue and I was told to use EDGE ONLY unless I intend to do access data or the web. Then I need to switch to 3G.

It'll be highly improbably Rogers will allow you to cancel out of your Data plan committment. If they do, please let me know. I think the blogger's situation is unique and he got lucky.

We gave 2 iPhones with Fido at home. Both are having the same problem. Almost every single call goes directly to voicemail.

i didnt say they would cancel your data plan, rather that they would refund me until the problem is fixed.

you sir just saved me 90 bucks. i called fido and bitched them out about lack of 3g and demanded they give me a credit. they credited 3 months of data. i suppose its the least they could do but its still sweet.

I am with Fido and having the same problem called in a couple days ago, they told me they can’t give credits to people with Iphones - I called the representative on his lie and asked to speak with a supervisor - he told me he can transfer me to another department I refused and said I want his info - employee ID and name and want to talk to his supervisor - he put me on hold came back and said he can give me a $50 credit. I tell you they just lie to you until you threaten them

I Say we should all go stand infront of Rogers stores and apple stores and let every one know not to get the phone or the service!!!

Way before christmas and maybe get some news teams in on it.

trust me i'm s ure that would start a big issue

Rogers would bust a nut at apple or them selfs to fix the issue faster then anything

think about it they only want to sell sell sell they wotn tell their customers of the issue only once yoru locked in contract and after your 15 min of use you will know the issue and then your screwd anyways

Whos in on it i'll set up a poll on www.popposvoice.com in regards to what people think we should doo and some other info lets take it right on and show them, hey screw with us we will fu(k Them.

I first started experience this garbage a few weeks ago, and it's been continuing since. My fist call to tech support had them reset my voicemail (I asked why... as I lost important voicemails from their customers). That obviously did nothing as I guessed, they then told me to switch to edge and see if the problem persists. The rep had no interest in troubleshooting, nor did he know what he was talking about.

As an employee of the company in question, they have told us nothing about this issue even though it is an issue. I have had quite a few customers complaining about this issue... all were 3G phone users, and 1 or 2 were other devices than iPhones.

Posting anonymously hoping my identity will not get revealed under any circumstances. Hopefully some negative attention will get Rogers to do something rather than continually run damage control instead of prevention.

After reading up on this more, I decided to call Fido with regard to this. I spent over an hour on the phone with Tech support and the acknowledged that there was in fact a problem with the NETWORK, and that it was not isolated to the iPhone but in fact all 3g Phones. I know that this doesn't solve anything, but at least they acknowledged that there was a problem.

I had the issue on the weekend where almost all my calls went directly to voice mail - I turned off 3G on my iphone and my calls still went directly to voice mail...

Same issues. The story they tell on the phone with customer service does not match what is happening. After my second call i got half my data cost of $30 and half my voice cost of $27 (total $28.50) back. Was told all was fixed, enabled 3g, same problem, so back on edge. I'm just so unhappy that Rogers won't admit it like a normal company so they can announce officially when the problem is fixed so we can all stop wondering if we can use what we paid for yet.

Hey,

just a quick question - where are you guys based? I guess I am just trying to see if there is a pattern to this problem. If Rogers' network sucks only in BC or ON or elsewhere and if it is near downtown-ish or somewhere else? you guys get the point i m sure..

also, try one thing - while surfing the net on 3G (say downloading/buffering a movie on youtube) try attempting a call and see if it sets up.

Cheers.
